Healthy Future of Slovakia
An expert roadmap for healthcare reform based on data, megatrends, and collaboration

The “Healthy Future of Slovakia” platform brings together leading experts in health policy, public finance, management, and patient experience to design a realistic, implementable, and values-based reform blueprint for Slovakia’s healthcare system. The team is building the future model through open expert dialogue, megatrend prioritization, and piloting solutions focused on accessibility, sustainability, and predictability of care.

Main Objectives:

  • Diagnose systemic problems using the “patient journey” methodology.

  • Transform megatrends (population ageing, digitalization, workforce shortages) into actionable policies and reforms.

  • Develop a realistic proposal of 5–6 priority reforms implementable within 1–3 years.

  • Pilot solutions and validate their impact.

  • Engage the public and stakeholders in shaping the target model of healthcare.

Electoral System Reform – System 2027
A democratic alternative to concentrated power

A comprehensive proposal for a democratic reform of Slovakia’s electoral system. Systém 2027 introduces a bicameral parliament (National Council and Senate), combining majoritarian and proportional elements, strengthening regional representation, and ensuring a more transparent legislative process. The aim is to create a fairer, more stable, and citizen-centered system that guarantees equal opportunities for all political actors and reduces the risk of power concentration.

The reform is also a direct response to the legislative package presented by the government of Robert Fico, which we consider the most serious attack on the freedom of political competition since Slovakia’s independence. Measures such as restricting party financing, raising electoral deposits, and limiting citizens’ support systematically undermine pluralism, equal opportunities, and the right of people to participate in public affairs. Systém 2027 provides a constitutionally sound and fair alternative to these actions.

Main Objectives:

  • Strengthen regional representation by introducing 8 regional electoral districts and 45 Senate constituencies.

  • Establish regular Senate elections every two years.

  • Reduce the number of lower chamber MPs from 150 to 111.

  • Combine majoritarian and proportional voting to reflect both local and nationwide voter preferences.

  • Ensure a more transparent legislative process and greater checks on executive power.

Where Does Slovakia Belong? Facts Over Impressions
Geopolitical dilemmas, security paradoxes, and public opinion on our future

A large-scale representative survey of Slovakia’s geopolitical orientation, security preferences, and attitudes toward Ukraine, NATO, and defense spending. The project reveals profound contradictions in Slovak society—strong pro-Western orientation combined with reluctance to invest in defense or actively support Ukraine. The results show that the government of Robert Fico is pursuing a foreign policy contrary to the will of most Slovak citizens.

Key Findings:

  • 63.5% of citizens prefer Western orientation, only 19.2% lean East.

  • 70.6% support NATO membership, yet nearly half also favor military neutrality.

  • Over half of the population rejects higher defense spending.

  • Most Slovaks support humanitarian aid to Ukraine but oppose military assistance.

  • More than half are willing to accept a peace deal sacrificing Ukrainian territory.

Project Goal:
To contribute to an expert and public debate on Slovakia’s geopolitical orientation, expose the impact of disinformation, and help create the basis for strategic, fact-based decisions.
