We invite Slovak students in Olomouc to the first Future Slovakia Forum meetup in the city — part of the Slovak Students Abroad project.

When & where

Tuesday, April 14, 2026 · 17:00 Coffee Library · Biskupské nám. 1 · Olomouc

Guests

Michal Vašečka — sociologist, Slovakia's representative on the Council of Europe's European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI). Visiting professor at Georgetown, Oxford, and the University of Michigan. Co-author of the Danube Story essay published by FSF in November 2025. Member of the FSF Advisory Board.

Dávid Bořuta — founder and director of Future Slovakia Forum. Coordinator of the Slovak Students Abroad project and co-author of the Danube Story.

What to expect

In November 2025, Slovakia lost nearly 20 points on the liberal democracy index — the sharpest drop in the EU since 1989. Students took to the streets with chalk. Michal Vašečka was there — not as a commentator, but as an analyst. Come discuss what is happening in Slovakia, why it matters, and what you can do about it. Not in the abstract — through analytical work, public policy, and connection with experts in healthcare, education, public finance, and decentralization.

Olomouc is the third city — after Prague and Brno — where FSF is building a presence. This meetup is a founding milestone.
